WtC joins a discussion about the Fear Factor
March, 2023 – Nicole joined Dr. Margie Crowe and DEIB practitioner, CEO, and Culture Architect, Yvonne Alston, to discuss challenging stereotypes, breaking down the #fearfactor, and bridging the gap between black and white women. Towards the end, they share tips on progressing and building a more multidimensional, multi-racial community of understanding.

WtC caps off Black History month at Cisco Canada event, George Floyd: Learnings and the Aftermath
Nicole McKinney (WtC) took part as a moderator at the Cisco Canada event, hosted by CBP (Connected Black Professionals) on February 24th. Together with a diverse group of community and organization leaders, they discussed where we are as community two years after the death of George Floyd.

On June 22nd, WtC founder Nicole McKinney will be gladly taking part as a panelist at Norton Rose Fulbright’s webinar on intersectional #allyship. There is no one-size-fits-all approach for equity-deserving individuals and groups, and so she’ll be joining in for a discussion on how to take allyship to the next level by understanding the specific needs of the #Black, #Indigenous, and #LGBTQI2S+ communities.

A recent report from The Toronto District School Board’s Human Rights office “examined reports of hate activity among its more than 245,000 students and 40,000 staff over a two-year period from 2018 to 2020.” It concluded, “...69 percent of all reported hate incidents in the 2019-2020 school year, with anti-Black racism making up the biggest share.
